Nutrients


Plants require a range of nutrients, many of which are common to every plant albeit, with different quantities being required depending upon the species of the plant being grown.

Indoor plants need to be supplied with relatively frequent additions of nutrients because they are isolated from the processes in the natural environment which would normally fulfil their needs.

The most common nutrients required by plants are as follows:-

Nitrogen

Phosphorous

Potassium

Calcium

Sulpher

Magnesium

Carbon

Oxygen

Hydrogen

 

The most common micronutrients or trace nutrients are:-

Iron

Chlorine

Boron

Manganese

Zinc

Copper
