Philodendrons have been used as indoor plants since Victorian times. These plants are relatively easy to care for however, their foliage can grow to substantial size and are often used in large offices and public environments rather than homes.
Care and Maintenance
Feed every two weeks except in winter. Large plants need full strength fertiliser, a weak solution is best for smaller plants. Keep the soil evenly moist, but water less frequently in winter. Mist often and clean leaves occasionally with a damp cloth.
Philodendrons grow well in soil.
Semi-shade to shade
Keep between 16-21 degrees celsius. Do not allow temperature to fall below 13 degrees celsius or go above 24 degrees celsius.
Pests and Problems
Occasionally aphids, mealybugs and root rot from too wet and cold conditions.
